About me

Hi! My name is Yuta Takesada. I was born in Japan, raised in Japan, went and lived in Conneticut, United States of America for few years, and here I am in Japan, currently attending Kwansei Gakuin University, Graduate School of Science and Technology, Department of Information Science. Under the guidance of Professor Hiroyuki Ohsaki, I am doing research on networks. I feel super happy when I am playing basketball, listening to music, and spending time with my friends.

I've been playing basketball since 12, and I'm still loving the game of basketball. I am currently a member of a team composed with working people, and I am learning and growing about basketball every day.

I also love listening to music. I used to play the piano when I was a kindergantener and played violin at an elementary school. I listen to music wherever I go, when going to school, when I'm studying, when I just want to chill and be free from everything. I cannot live a life without music.

My favorite time of my life is when I am spending time with my friends. That will include having lunch together, working on school assignments, or even just hanging out. I just love every pinch of seconds spending time with my friends.

Words to describe about myself would be "A competitive boy with full of curiosity, lucky and blessed with the people around him." Let me explain each component one by one.

1. competitive
I hate to lose. I hate when I get lower score on a test than my friends, I hate when I lose to a game of basketball, I hate even when I lose a game of rock-paper-scissors. I am a sore loser so I always compete with someone around me and do my best to defeat people around me.

2. curiosity
I am not the best solution maker, but I always ask about myself, who, what, when, where, why, and how. I heard from my parents that when I was little, I was always asking them quentions about every stuff I see. And I guess that habit continues to this day.

3. lucky and blessed
As I mentioned before, I love spending time with my friends because I am super lucky and blessed with my friends. Needn't be said, I am lucky and blessed with my family members, teachers from middle school, high school, and a university who have been absolutely helpful to me, and all the people I have been involved with. They always have some lessons I need to learn, and help me grow to be a better person. They are always there for me when I need help. People around me have been a humangous indispensable factor for my life.

My principles

First of all, what is a principle? According to the Oxford Learner's Dictionaries, a principle is "a moral rule or a strong belief that influences your actions"(References : Oxford Learner's Dictionary). So in this section I would like to introduce my three principles, moral rules that influences my actions.

1. Start with an effort to accept the situation
There might be times where I want to run away from the situation, such as run into people I don't like to spend time with or cannot make a success in a test, failing over and over again and again. From the bottom of my heart, I hate those situations and want to give up on everything. But I will never run away from those situations and try to face with those stand up. I believe that overcoming those difficulties will lead to my personal developments, making me much more attractive and much more strong person.

2. Be aware that the environment in which you find yourself is not the norm
I lived to this world for more than 20 years, so I get used to lots of situations, which makes it feel no special because I experience it often. But I must alert myself and say, "That is not normal for other people and must thank every situation that I face!". For example, what you feel a little uncomfortable with, such as “Today's meal is not my favorite food,” may not be possible for others even if you wish it to be so, such as “The situation in which the meal is served is not normal in the first place." I must thank every second of my life and be pleased to be who I am, I must be thankful to the people around me, I must be thankful to all the difficult situations I face that makes me improve more than before.

3. Do not be satisfied with the status quo and do not become complacent
"Status quo is degenaracy." This is a famous quote that I like, which represents you have to step up and grow up every day. I do not want myself to be degenerate, and step up every second of my life. As I get older, I realized how valuable time is. Many people say "Time is money", and I could finally understand the meaning of this quote, time is equally distributed to everyone, and how to spend it is up to themselves. I want to use it so that I can grow to be more attractive, meaning a person who overcame various difficulties.

My work

Let me explain what research I am doing right now. I am doing a research about Congestion Control Algorithm(CCA), which congestion control algorithm in networking works like a smart traffic system for a busy highway. It detects when too many data packets (cars) are being sent, which can cause a traffic jam (network congestion). To prevent this, it slows down the rate at which new packets enter the network, much like traffic lights at on-ramps, ensuring smooth and efficient data flow. This helps maintain a steady pace, avoiding bottlenecks and keeping everything moving smoothly.

I tried using q-learning and changed the window size in an AIMD(Additive Increase Multiplicative Decrease) style. It adjusts the flow of data packets (cars) on a network (highway) intelligently. It learns from past experiences (traffic patterns) to decide how to change the window size, which is the rate at which packets are sent. When congestion is low, it increases the window size gradually (like slowly letting more cars on the highway). When congestion is detected, it decreases the window size significantly (like reducing the number of cars entering). This adaptive approach ensures efficient and smooth data flow, avoiding congestion. Here below are some of the academic conferences that I presented my work.
